Well, for one, I love butterfat (in all it's glorious forms and let's face it, who doesn't?), but I wanted a company name that would accomplish several things: be memorable, be an homage to my upbringing in a dairy region of Oregon, and pay tribute to the dairy town in which I now live- Ferndale, CA.
My career began in the mid 1980s. At the time, I wrote lots of poetry and articles while working various retail and reprographics jobs. After being published for a number of years, I landed a coveted Technical Writing internship at Cadence Design Systems, an electrical engineering software firm in San Jose, CA. I was soon immersed in the physics-laden world of integrated circuit testing and manufacturing software, a highly complex and fascinating field.
Over the next ten years, I went on to write and edit documentation about semi conductors, networking hardware, medical devices, graphic-based entertainment programs, data recovery programs, and IT processes, among others. In addition, I've written excellent sales and marketing copy for a diverse group of businesses and have continued to write freelance articles for magazines, periodicals, and newspapers.
In January 2006, ButterFat Publishing & Writing Services was born. My greatest satisfaction comes from helping clients achieve their marketing and sales expectations in exciting and unique ways. I love finding methods for tackling client challenges. I love the process of working with positive business owners to pinpoint what they want and then crafting excellent copy, technical, or creative writing to achieve their goals.
